A Quick Guide to Plant Starter Plugs

Our Foody Towers make it easy to grow herbs and vegetables. However, even the people out there with green thumbs can have difficulty getting a seed to sprout on occasion. This is where plant starter plugs come in handy. We sell General Hydroponics Rapid Rooter starter plugs on our website, so that's what we'll use as a reference.

Starter plugs are usually made from composted materials, such as tree bark or moss. This allows the seed to receive the proper amount of both air and water. When you wish to get your seeds started, first you need to let the plugs sit in distilled water for 3 to 4 hours. Once the plugs have soaked, plant a few seeds in each. Having multiple seeds in each plug will increase the chances that one will germinate.

Keep the plugs damp, in the dark, and put them underneath a cover of some sort. You may also want to invest in a heating mat, as this increases the germination rate. As seeds sprout, you can transfer them to a location with light and let them continue to grow. Once the roots start to grow beyond the plug, you'll know that the seeds are ready to transport to your Foody Tower.

It's as easy as that! With plant stater plugs, anyone can be a gardener. If you have any questions or tips for us, please feel free to contact us.
