How to be more Self-Sufficient

Self-Sufficiency. Realistically, many of us are not in a position to become completely self-sufficient, but there are a few steps most of us can take to be less reliant on others.

Learn to Sew

Whether it's repairing a rip in your shirt or making a new winter hat, sewing is an invaluable skill to have. Not only is it useful, but it can also serve as a form of meditation after a stressful week at work. Here's a great guide that teaches you the basics of sewing: https://crazylittleprojects.com/sewing-for-beginners-learn-to-sew/

Grow Your Own Food

I might be a little biased, but I think that using a Foody tower is another great way to be self-sufficient. Any of our Foody towers can be used to reduce your trips to the grocery store. Plus they only take up around 2 square feet, so they're especially great if you're limited on space. You can take that one step further by collecting rain water to put in the tower as opposed to going to the faucet every time.

Make Your Own Furniture

Getting furniture from the store can be expensive, especially if you're looking for something that will last. If you've got an outdoor space or garage you can work in, you may want to consider building some of your own furniture. You can get materials at a fraction of the price of a completed piece of furniture, plus you can add your own personal touch to make something unique.
