Mint is a favorite among hydroponic growers due to its wide variety of uses and fast growing speed. If you have never grown mint in a hydroponic system before, you'll want to keep a few things in mind.
1. How to Get Started
If you want to start from seeds, I would recommend using grow plugs. Grow plugs make it easy to get plants started and can be directly placed into a Foody system once roots start to sprout. If you'd prefer to get a head start, you can also buy mints plants from a store and transplant them into your hydroponic system.
2. Promoting Growth
Once your mint plants are growing in your hydroponic system, you'll want to keep an eye on them to make sure they are growing properly. Here's how you should keep your system:
- pH level of 6.0 to 7.0
- grow lights on for 12 to 16 hours per day
- temperature between 65°F and 70°F
- add liquid nutrients around once per week
3. Enjoy!
If you start from seeds, it will take roughly 90 days for your mint to fully grow. Once it is fully grown you can harvest it and let it regrow.
